Howdy Northern Calif.
I have been writing my brand of nonsence for a few months. Some times I get feed-back from readers, but mostly it is quiet. I guess I don't offend too many folks or I would be getting some nasty responses.
I know that I get carried away once in a while in my back-woods rambling but that is what keeps me going.
Having grown up in the Red Bluff-Corning area, I have found Alaska to be very different place to live.
It is like going to a foreign country as far as the culture and life-style.
Alaskans are a hard-core, tough sort of people that don't mind being a long ways away from civilization.
We still can "live off of the land" up here. The wilderness is still at the city limits and one can be far from the crowds in 2 minutes.
We live 4 miles up the Kenai River from town, and have all sorts of large critters living close by. Some times REAL close by. Shooshing moose and bears out of the yard is still something we need to do regularly.
We sleep with weapons near the bed in case a bear breaks in down stairs. I guess it's not much different than you having to protect yourselves against the burgulars down there.
I would much rather deal with a bear than those sneaky burgulars. Bears just want grub, while the burgulars want everything you have.
The rules are a little different up here when dealing with burgulars. We simply send them on their way to "burgular Heaven", or where ever it is that departed burgulars go.
I know that sounds a bit harsh but we do have the right to protect our homes with "the defence of life and property" statute.
Incidently, we seldom have problems with burgulars...
Oh well.
I would like the readers to drop me a line in the comments section, or e-mail me at oldbearhunter@alaska.net, and let me know if you are indeed reading my stuff and what you think of it.
My new book, "The Miss-Adventures of Bubba", will contain some of these blogs so I do need to know if it is something I should do.
Thanks in advance.
Bubba
